Why must the trailer hand valve not be used to hold a parked trailer?
Correct answer: A – Air may leak away and release the brakes on a trailer without spring brakes
The Kansas manual warns that air applied through the trailer hand valve can eventually leak away. On a trailer without spring brakes, that loss of pressure can release the brakes and allow movement. Use the parking brakes when parking. If the trailer has no spring brakes, chock its wheels to keep it from moving.
